A man who drove his silver BMW into a Vietnamese restaurant in southeast Denver last weekend was charged with vehicular assault and a string of other felonies today.
Police said Alejandro Dominguez-Lopez, 27, was drunk and driving erratically in a strip mall parking lot, when a bystander tried to pull him over. That escalated to the bystander punching Lopez through the driver’s side window.
Surveillance video shows Lopez speeding forward and crashing through the restaurant’s glass front, with the bystander still hanging on, and a half dozen diners inside the Pho 7 restaurant running for cover. A teenage boy was pinned in a booth. He and two others were injured.
The video shows Lopez back out of the restaurant and pull away, even as a police officer fires a Taser through the BMW’s window. Lopez was arrested about blocks away after he rammed a police cruiser.
Lopez remains in the Denver County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
