DENVER—A Northwestern University police officer has discovered personal items belonging to a 20-year-old student from Colorado who’s been missing more than a week.
Trevor Boehm of Monument, Colo., is a freshman at Northwestern’s School of Communication. The university says he was reported missing Sunday when his parents showed up to visit and could not find him.
Authorities say he has not been seen in his classes or residence hall, or used his student identification card in dining halls since Nov. 5.
His sister, Ali Boehm, told The Associated Press the situation appeared grim—but she wants to send a message to him.
“If there’s any glimmer that he is somewhere and looking at this unfold, I want him to know his family is still here,” Boehm said.
The school’s vice president of university relations, Alan Cubbage, says an officer found Boehm’s jacket, cell phone, keys, ID card and other items on the shore of Lake Michigan on the school’s Evanston campus Thursday afternoon.
The U.S. Coast Guard is now searching the lake in that area.
