Xcel Energy said Monday that natural-gas bills would remain relatively flat in December compared with the same month a year ago. Customer bills, however, will be 45 percent higher in December compared with this month because of higher usage. The company’s proposed natural-gas commodity price for December is 2.7 percent lower than it was last December but is 15.8 percent higher than this month’s. If approved by regulators, the price would take effect Dec. 1.
Xcel also said Monday that bills for the winter heating season from November to March are projected to increase by up to 10 percent compared with a year ago. Xcel initially forecast that bills would rise 30 percent to 50 percent. Andy Vuong, The Denver Post
