GREENWOOD VILLAGE — A worker was killed Tuesday morning when the crane he was operating ran off the road in Greenwood Village.
The first call came in at 9:37 a.m., said Andy Lyon of South Metro Fire Rescue.
The accident happened at Green Oaks Drive and East Orchard Road.
A self-propelled crane belonging to a custom homebuilder was being moved, Lyon said.
A colleague was driving a pickup ahead of the crane. He said the crane was going normal speed but then got faster and couldn’t stop. He drove out of the way, but the crane swerved, ran over a stop sign and across Orchard. It went into Big Dry Creek.
The crane operator was dead at the scene; his identity had not been released. The Denver Post
