An 18-year-old man was killed early this morning when he crashed over an embankment near a home in Aurora and was thrown from his Pontiac Grand Prix, authorities say.
Investigators found evidence at the scene indicating the driver may have been intoxicated, according to Sgt. Kevin Rollins of the Aurora Police Department.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after the 3:02 a.m. accident at Tallyn’s Reach Parkway at East Frost Drive, Rollins said.
The man was in a white 1997 Grand Prix southbound on Tallyn’s Reach Parkway when he lost control of the car and it rolled off the right side of the road and landed on its side, he said.
Authorities believe the driver was speeding, Rollins said.
“There were indications at the scene that alcohol may be involved,” he said, but investigators will await the results of toxicology tests before making a final determination.
