A house fire broke out in Aurora early this morning displacing five residents, but no one was injured.

The Aurora Fire Department was called at about 3:26 a.m. to a fire at 11712 E. Asbury Place, said Capt. Allen Robnett, a fire department spokesman.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were visible. The residents had safely fled the burning home, Robnett said.

The fire spread to a neighbor’s storage shed. The neighbor’s house also was damaged by heat and smoke.

Firefighters had the two fires out in about 30 minutes.

The home fire caused about $100,000 in damage and the shed damage and damage to the second home was estimated at about $25,000, Robnett said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
