AURORA, Colo.—A temporary home for military veterans could be coming to Aurora.

City officials are working on plans to build housing for 25 to 50 veterans near the site of a planned Veteran Affairs hospital at the Anschutz Medical Campus.

The new veterans’ housing would be aimed at the estimated 1,000 homeless vets along the Front Range. Veterans served would not necessarily have to be injured.

The director of the state Division of Veteran Affairs says the home would provide job training and placement to try to prevent vets from becoming chronically homeless.
