The Summit County Sheriff is warning hikers not to leave valuables in their cars parked at trailheads.
Over the last month three cars have been broken into at the Ten Mile Creek an Meadow Creek trailheads, the sheriff said in a news release.
One of the car was left unlocked; the other two were locked and the thief broke windows to steal purses and wallets.
The sheriff recommends that anything left in a vehicle be locked in a trunk.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-453-STOP.
