LINCOLN—Shortly after signing into law a safe-haven age limit that stops desperate parents from dropping off teenagers at hospitals, Gov. Dave Heineman advised them to call a state hot line for help. “We want to assist these families,” Heineman wrote in his weekly column, distributed on Monday to media outlets across the state. “The Nebraska United Way’s 211 hot line or a local Health and Human Services office are available to provide information and referral for services.” By Nate Jenkins.
