Thornton police said 20-year-old Jonathon Edward Suarez opened fire with a pistol after a failed attempt to steal a hat from a 18-year-old boy in Pecos Park this afternoon.
No one was hit. The teenager was walking away with a 17-year-old girl when Suarez fired, investigators said.
Suarez was booked into the Adams County Detention Facility on charges of attempted first-degree murder and robbery, as well as having arrest warrants in Denver, police said.
