DENVER—A Frontier Airlines spokeswoman says the company is dropping its sponsorship of the Colorado Avalanche, the Denver Nuggets and other teams that play at Denver’s Pepsi Center.

Lindsey Purves said Monday that the airline has rejected its contract with Pepsi Center owner Kroenke Arena Co., meaning it will no longer sponsor teams that play at the center.

She says affected teams include the NHL’s Avalanche, the NBA’s Nuggets, Arena football’s Colorado Crush and the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team.

Purves told the Rocky Mountain News that Frontier signed a deal in July 2006 to advertise at the Pepsi Center and provide travel to the teams. The airline rejected the agreement last week.

Purves declined to disclose the value of the deal.

Frontier filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
