Continuing their season-long adjustment to an injured tailback, the Broncos made a series of roster moves Tuesday.

Besides the expected move of placing running back Peyton Hillis on injured reserve with a torn hamstring and officially promoting running back Cory Boyd from their practice squad, the Broncos also waived safety Calvin Lowry and signed offensive guard Pat Murray from Seattle’s practice squad.

Lowry had started three games at safety for the Broncos but was replaced in recent weeks by veteran Vernon Fox and became expendable with the emergence of rookie Josh Barrett.

Boyd could start carry the ball as soon as Sunday in the Broncos’ game against the 10-3 Carolina Panthers. Boyd is now part of a running back rotation that includes Tatum Bell, Selvin Young and P.J. Pope.
