Colorado will issue nearly 24 percent more drilling permits this year compared with 2007, setting another record, according to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. The commission said the state will approve 7,870 permits in 2008, up from 6,368 a year ago. As of Dec. 3, 7,267 permits have been issued. The bulk have been issued to operators in Garfield County (37 percent) and Weld County (29 percent).
