DENVER—A jury has returned several guilty verdicts in the case of a man who was shot by Denver police officers last year during a botched holdup at a restaurant.

The Denver district attorney’s office says jurors deliberated for more than four hours Tuesday before convicting 27-year-old Phuong Van Dang of two counts of attempted first-degree assault, two counts of attempted second-degree assault, 11 counts of attempted aggravated robbery and other charges.

Prosecutors say Dang entered the Ha Noi restaurant at lunchtime on Nov. 14, 2007, and pointed a shotgun at customers. Two officers who happened to be eating at the restaurant exchanged shots with him.

Authorities say Dang and three customers were wounded by police bullets.

Dang remains in custody and faces charges as a habitual criminal. A status hearing is set for Friday.
