Mike Woolford retired last week as football coach at Regis. In command of the Class 5A Raiders since 2005, Woolford’s teams were 15-26, but his overall credentials stand up to most anyone’s in Colorado history. He was an assistant at Cherry Creek for 18 years before becoming head coach in 1990. His decade-long run as the Bruins’ boss produced a 107-26 mark, including 31-4 in the postseason, five championships (1990-91 and 1994-96), a runner-up finish (1999) and two other semifinal showings.
