GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado chain of auto dealerships is abandoning plans to build three new facilities in Glenwood Springs because of the poor economy.
Vista Auto Group had planned to build Nissan, Honda and Subaru dealerships on a property that formerly held motels.
The company bought the property earlier this year for more than $5 million. The auto group has now put the land up for sale.
The dealerships will be placed in existing facilities the company already owns or is purchasing.
Vista president Rod Buscher says the decision comes as drivers have snapped their wallets shut and aren’t buying new cars.
Vista has six dealerships in Glenwood Springs and Silverthorne.
