GOLDEN, Colo.—A Jefferson County physician has been given probation for improperly prescribing thousands of painkillers to an undercover narcotics officer.

Dr. Christine Connolly of Golden pleaded guilty Tuesday to drug charges after giving an undercover officer improper access to the controlled painkiller oxycodone for eight months last year.

According to court papers, Connolly prescribed some 9,000 pills worth of the painkiller even though the undercover officer and another man said they wanted them simply to feel good.

Connolly was sentenced to a year of probation. The Colorado Board of Medical Examiners did not immediately return calls about the status of Connolly’s medical credentials.
