DENVER—The Denver Nuggets have assigned center Cheikh Samb and swingman Sonny Weems to the Colorado 14ers of the NBA D-League.
Samb, a 7-foot-1, 245-pound big man acquired from Detroit in the trade that brought Chauncey Billups to Denver for Allen Iverson, averaged less than a point and 1.5 rebounds in six brief appearances for the Nuggets.
Samb averaged 10.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and a league-leading four blocks in 19 games for the D-League’s Fort Wayne franchise last season.
Weems has yet to play for Denver this season. He was acquired by the Nuggets in a draft night trade with Chicago and Portland.
