DENVER—A woman accused in the death of a friend’s infant daughter, whose decomposed body was found in the back of a pickup truck in 2006, has been found guilty.

An Arapahoe County jury deliberated for six hours Wednesday before convicting 25-year-old Jennifer Teeters of child abuse resulting in death, a felony.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 22.

Teeters was a friend of the newborn’s mother, 25-year-old Christie Lee Cole, who was charged with murder in the case. Cole eventually pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death and was sentenced 39 years in prison.

The remains of Cole’s daughter were found Aug. 6, 2006, amid trash in the back of an old, broken-down pickup truck that had been parked at the trailer park where Cole lived, about 30 miles east of Denver.

Authorities say the child was born in October 2005.
