A federal jury has convicted a Wyoming man who mailed threats to government officials after he was notified his home was up for foreclosure for failing to pay taxes.
Laurence Eustelle Wolff, 60, was convicted of mailing threatening communications and interfering with the administration of Internal Revenue Service laws.
Wolff refused to pay federal taxes for more than 20 years, according to Colorado’s U.S. attorney, Troy Eid, who prosecuted Wolff along with chief major crimes prosecutor Jim Hearty.
The case was handled by Colorado prosecutors because U.S. attorneys in Wyoming were recused from the case because they also received threatening letters.
Wolff vowed to defend his property and kill anyone who enforced the foreclosure on his home in Gillette, Wyo. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 20.
