DENVER—Crews are still trying to fix a gas pipeline that was ruptured in a lot in the Denver suburb of Broomfield, prompting the evacuation of a nearby school and day care center.

A construction crew punctured the pipeline at about 1:30 p.m. Friday in a lot next to Broomfield High School.

Wendy Forbes, spokeswoman for the North Metro Fire Rescue, says the school’s students and faculty were sent home early. And she says the 50 children in the day care center at the Broomfield United Methodist Church across the street were picked up by their parents.

No injuries were reported.

Forbes says crews from Xcel Energy were still trying to find the exact location of the break in the line Friday evening.
