A 46-year-old man charged with sexual assault of a child last week faces new criminal allegations.
Eric Torrez, 46, was arrested again Wednesday in the area of East 26th Avenue and Dallas Street, according to the Denver Police Department.
Torrez’ latest arrest, also is for sexual assault of a child, police said. Police said an additional victim recently has come forward.
Torrez’ wife, Linda, 45, and their biological son, Patrick, 22, have been charged in the original case with sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of a child while in a position of trust. Eric Torrez faces 13 counts of sexual abuse of a child from the arrest last week.
The latest allegations come from a woman who told police she spotted an article about the arrests in a newspaper and called authorities.
According to court documents, the alleged victim told investigators she lived next door to the Torrez family as a child and Eric Torrez sexually assaulted her on several occasions starting in 1992 when she was about 8 years old. The victim, who was not identified, told investigators Torrez followed her into a bathroom at a bowling alley, where the family worked cleaning the business. He locked the door and assaulted her, according to an affidavit.
She also told investigators she was assaulted by Torrez as an 11-year-old, in car, and as a 12-year-old in a room at St. Dominic’s Church, in northwest Denver, where Torrez worked at the time.
“Eric would always touch me and tell me I was beautiful,” she told investigators.
Authorities have contacted the church and established that Torrez worked there at the time in question, the affidavit said.
He was taken into custody Wednesday without incident and booked into the Denver County Jail in lieu of a $2 million bond, according to police.
The original case alleges sexual abuse of a young girl and boy for whom the Torrez family was caring. The victims, now in their 20s, have not been identified. They are living in Kansas.
In addition, the two children’s mother, Karen Stillman, 57, has been charged with complicity of sexual assault on a child for her alleged knowledge of the assaults.
The latest victim and the original two victims played together as children, according to the latest arrest affidavit.
Anyone with information on the cases is asked to call police at 720-913-6067.
