Denver is a finalist for the 2010, 2011 or 2012 NCAA men’s lacrosse championships, along with Baltimore, New Jersey and Boston. The NCAA is expected to award the championships in late January or early February.
The event would be held at Invesco Field at Mile High. The U.S. Air Force Academy is the host institution, assisted by the University of Denver. Metro Denver Sports Commission president KieAnn Brownell guaranteed $3 million at the final presentation.

Wyoming sweeps Pioneers.
Stephanie Ortiz won the 1- and 3-meter diving events to help the University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams to a sweep of the University of Denver teams in Laramie. The Cowgirls won 186-112, and the Cowboys prevailed 178-117.
Mammoth schedule tweaked.
The dissolution of the National Lacrosse League’s Chicago Shamrox means a change in the Colorado Mammoth’s schedule — and a visit from Rochester and former Mammoth great Gary Gait on April 3.
Hittle returns.
Tara Hittle, the 2003 Colorado volleyball player of the year at Doherty High School, had nine digs, but Hawaii lost 3-0 to Stanford in the NCAA regional final at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. Hittle won’t rest long. She also plays basketball for Hawaii.
