A man who jumped from a bridge on U.S. 285 onto the northbound lanes of Wadsworth Boulevard about 11 a.m. today sustained serious injuries, according to Jacki Kelley of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses said the man walked onto the bridge, looked around and then jumped, landing in the northbound lanes, according to Kelley.

The 41-year-old man was not struck by any vehicles, said Kelley. Although his injuries are serious, they are not life-threatening, she said. U.S. 285 also is known as Hampden Avenue in the area where the incident occurred.
