A 44-year-old man who allegedly crept into women’s homes and stole their underwear has been arrested on seven new burglary and trespassing charges, Boulder police said this afternoon.

The investigation began on Halloween when Wesley Cox was caught videotaping a couple having sex without their knowledge.

The new charges stem from the cooperation of six women who came forward after police released photos of the underwear they found in Cox’s home, said Sarah Huntley, spokeswoman for the Boulder Police department.

The women were able to identify their belongings, which investigators say were taken from their homes, said Huntley.

In addition to announcing the new charges, detectives are releasing additional images of undergarments found in Cox’s home in the 1500 block of 48th Street in Boulder.

The department also is releasing a photograph of an unidentified bedroom. Police have seized a videotape that shows Cox in the room. Detectives would like to speak to the person who uses the bedroom to find out if Cox had permission to be there.

On Oct. 31, two Boulder men saw Cox pointing a video camera through their neighbors’ window.

The men pinned Cox to the ground and stopped him from erasing his video camera. Police said the camera contained nude images of women.

In a search of Cox’s home, police found scores of stolen women’s underwear and garments, including a Boulder High School cheerleader’s uniform, a pair of black knit shorts worn by a Hooters restaurant waitress and other items such as a bikini.

Police believe Cox became obsessed with the women he victimized.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jane Harmer at 303-441-3330. Persons wishing to remain anonymous should contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
