Some questioned the effort, and others, Mike Shanahan among them, the coaching.
Uh-huh. Either that or the Broncos were soundly beaten by a better team Sunday.
It has to be something in this 21st century of ours. Everything has to be analyzed and scrutinized. Everyone has to have an opinion. Everyone has to chime in with a comment or a blog from their computer or their Blackberry or some other gadget that just rolled off the assembly line.
But sometimes the analysis is a lot less complicated than some people want to make it. Sometimes the reason for winning or losing is right there in front of us. Sometimes it’s a matter of not overlooking the obvious.
The Broncos are an up-and-coming team. They’ve been good theatre and compelling copy. But are they as good as the Carolina Panthers? Please. At the moment, given all their injuries, they’re not particularly close.
If nothing else, the loss at Carolina provided a reality check. Sure, the Broncos had won three consecutive road games. But did that mean they were Super Bowl contenders, as the Panthers clearly are? No.
They got beat by a better team, one that’s ready to win now. As opposed to the Broncos, whose future, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra, is all ahead of them.
