FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University may split its top job in two, hiring a chancellor to oversee the two-campus system and a president for the Fort Collins campus.

Colorado State’s Pueblo campus already has its own president, but the jobs of system chancellor and Fort Collins campus president were previously combined into one.

Larry Penley, who had that job, resigned last month.

The CSU Board of Governors agreed Tuesday to split the job in two, but the board won’t take a formal vote until February.

The board plans meetings around the state to discuss the idea with students and others who would be affected.
