Shocking, simply shocking. Ryan Clady not making the AFC Pro Bowl team, that is.
Or not.
For the record, there was no grumbling, no complaining, no nothing coming out of Dove Valley on Wednesday. Sure, maybe Clady deserved to make it, but no one was upset that he didn’t.
“I just think Ryan Clady had a heck of a year,” said Mike Shanahan. “You can’t worry about that.”
Said offensive line coach Rick Dennison: “He’s a good player with a lot of potential. He’s done a very good job. He hasn’t been perfect, but he’s gotten better. That’s all you can ask, for guys to play hard and improve. He’s a very gifted player who’s really working hard at it.”
A very gifted player. You think? Clady is your basic prototypical left tackle _ tall, long arms, quick on his feet, touch of nasty in him. By the time it’s all said and done, he’ll have more Pro Bowl apperances than either of the Broncos who made the AFC team.
That would be Brandon Marshall and Jay Cutler. They’ll put up a lot of stats down the road, but so will other wideouts and quarterbacks.
Clady? He won’t have a bunch of stats. Only a whole lot of trips to the Pro Bowl.
