PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia forward Elton Brand dislocated his right shoulder in the third quarter of the 76ers’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
Brand, who had four points and six rebounds before he was injured, was scheduled to have an MRI late Wednesday night. He entered the game averaging 16.4 points.
• New Orleans Hornets guard Peja Stojakovic is day to day because of back spasms.
• Toronto Raptors rookie forward Nathan Jawai, sidelined since training camp because of an unidentified heart abnormality, has been cleared to begin workouts.
Fleury set to return to Penguins
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to start tonight against the Atlanta Thrashers, the first time he has played since injuring his groin Nov. 15.
• St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay McKee will be sidelined indefinitely with a fractured left ring finger.
• The Carolina Hurricanes activated Frantisek Kaberle (leg) and sent fellow defenseman Tim Conboy back to their minor-league affiliate in Albany, N.Y.
Stansbury out of hospital
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury is out of the hospital and will coach the Bulldogs tonight against Cincinnati. Stansbury checked into the hospital Sunday night complaining of headaches and flu-like symptoms. He was diagnosed Tuesday with a viral infection that was treated with steroids.
Davenport expecting baby
CLEVELAND — Lindsay Davenport is pulling out of the Australian Open, which begins Jan. 19, because she is pregnant with her second child.
