COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police investigating heroin use among Cheyenne Mountain High School students say they’re unlikely to pursue charges against at least 25 students who admitted they used the drug.
Police say none of the students were found to possess heroin, making it difficult to build a case against them for felony drug use.
Sgt. Scott Schwall added authorities are less concerned with individual students and more concerned about “the overall student population and who’s supplying them.”
Police said Wednesday that five suspected drug dealers have been arrested in the probe. Schwall declined to release their names, saying the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities earlier described the suspects as former students and Mexican nationals.
