EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Tarvaris Jackson has reclaimed his starting spot at quarterback for the Vikings.

Coach Brad Childress said the decision has nothing to do with the health of Gus Frerotte and everything to do with the way Jackson has played the past two weeks.

“I thought it gives our team the best chance right now,” Childress said Thursday. “It takes nothing away from Gus. It’s more a product of what Tarvaris has done with the ball in his hand.”

Frerotte (back) returned to practice this week and said he “definitely” felt good enough to play against the Falcons on Sunday.

Finnegan fined $25,000 for hits

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for two hard hits on quarterback Matt Schaub during Sunday’s 13-12 loss to the Texans.

Also, defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch watched practice, two days after having surgery on his groin, and said he feels better than he did a week ago.

“I’m confident that it’s fixed now,” Vanden Bosch said.

Footnotes.

Bills tackle Jason Peters (knee) missed practice but is expected to play Sunday against the Broncos, as are running back Marshawn Lynch (shoulder), cornerback Jabari Greer (knee) and quarterback Trent Edwards (groin).
