FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins police arrested a woman and a 17-old boy Thursday in connection with a bizarre assault on a 19-year-old man who ran to a assisted-living facility for help at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Edwina Sanchez, 26, of Fort Collins and the juvenile, who was not named because of his age, each face attempted first-degree murder and second- degree kidnapping charges.
The motive is still under investigation.
Police said the pair inadvertently parked their Volvo on a frozen pond and lost their prey, and their ride, when it broke through the ice at Fort Collins Country Club.
Michael D. Whiteis of Fort Collins was kidnapped from Sanchez’s apartment and taken against his will to the country club, where he was beaten and cut before escaping, police said.
He ran to a home in the Turnberry Place Assisted Living facility on Turnberry Road. A resident called for help.
