A Continental Airlines flight taking off for Houston went off a runaway Saturday night at Denver International Airport.
At least 34 people were taken to hospitals, officials reported, but there no immediate reports of fatalities or serious injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown said the plane was Continental Flight 1404 heading to Houston. The aircraft was a 737 with 107 passengers and five crew members aboard.
Julie King, a Continental spokeswoman, told 9News that the plane was trying to take off but it “exited the runway.”
Numerous emergency vehicles were dispatched to the airport, including several ambulances.
The accident occurred on runway 34 Right at 6:18 p.m. Other flights were being delayed. Crew members on the plane had to activate the evacuation chutes, according to DIA officials, in order to get everyone off the aircraft safely.
