President George W. Bush spent part of Christmas Eve morning calling U.S. troops stationed around the world from Camp David, and one of those to receive the call was Sgt. Aaron M. Simmons, a Fort Carson soldier.

Simmons serves with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. His wife, Fawn Simmons, lives in Colorado Springs.

The president called nine members of the armed forces to wish them a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and to thank them for their service, said White House press secretary Dana Perino.

Perino said the president asked each one to pass holiday wishes from him and first lady Laura Bush to other troops serving with them.
