The University of Denver has received $10 million to create the James C. Kennedy Institute for Educational Success, set to start up immediately, according to Jim Berscheidt, a spokesman for the school.

The Kennedy Institute will focus on educational success, early-childhood learning, urban education and innovative learning technologies.

A 1970 alumnus, James Cox Kennedy is the chief executive of Cox Enterprises, which owns the Travel Channel along with several newspapers and radio stations.
