MINNEAPOLIS — Some of the best eyes in Minnesota have been counting, analyzing and squinting over ballots for more than a month. Yet the Senate race between Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken won’t be settled before the end of the year and perhaps not in time for the Senate opening Jan. 6.

The race appears to be two weeks away from any resolution, and if Franken — who holds a lead of 47 votes — or incumbent Coleman challenges the ruling or goes to court over matters related to the recount, the outcome could be delayed much longer.
