DENVER—Authorities say they’re investigating an incident that started with a driver hitting the vehicle of an off-duty Aurora police officer and ended with a traffic crash involving a Denver police officer.

Denver police Lt. Ron Saunier says his agency received a call at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday about a hit-and-run wreck at 56th Avenue and Dunkirk. He says the suspect struck the car of an off-duty Aurora officer, who wasn’t injured and pursued the suspect.

The officer stopped the suspect 10 minutes later and called the police for help.

A Denver officer responding to the scene hit a car at 56th and Dunkirk, the site of the original hit and run. The officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a hospital.

Saunier says the suspect is in custody and likely will be charged with leaving the scene and driving under the influence.
