California dreaming worth the recliner.
Sure, the Broncos are in a pickle this weekend with their season on the line against the Chargers. But don’t be too quick to think being on the road in San Diego will count against Denver.
In the past eight weeks of the NFL season, road teams are 64-60-1. So much for home-field advantage.
Still, no team since division play began in 1967 has squandered a three-game lead with three weeks remaining and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Denver’s decline, and a revenge-minded San Diego squad, form the backdrop to NBC’s decision to make the Broncos-Chargers its Sunday night national broadcast (the network this week grabbed the game, which was originally marked for a 2 p.m. MST start).
Al Michaels and John Madden will call the game, which airs at 6 p.m. on KUSA-9.
