Consider it a holiday miracle.
In a season marred by injuries, every Bronco on the team’s active roster practiced fully Friday in the team’s final regular-season drills in preparation for Sunday’s de-facto playoff game at San Diego.
That list included left tackle Ryan Clady, who is battling an ankle injury, and cornerback Champ Bailey, who was up to full speed this week for the first time in two months.
Still, Denver coach Mike Shanahan joked the team wasn’t taking any chances of getting anymore players injured before the team leaves for San Diego on Saturday.
“Nobody’s allowed to walk past the running backs room,” Shanahan said. “Danger zone.”
The Broncos have placed seven tailbacks on injured reserve this season, including two (Selvin Young and P.J. Pope) earlier this week.
“Everybody is ready to go,” Shanahan said.
Coach brushes off trash talk. Shanahan on Friday said he hasn’t paid attention to the banter between San Diego players and his team this week, though he acknowledged he did hear that San Diego linebacker Matt Wilhelm called Denver quarterback Jay Cutler a “punk.”
“To each his own,” Shanahan said.
