CASPER — Casper-area hunters will have a new place they can pursue elk and other big game next fall.

The Wyoming’s Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Board has purchased a conservation easement on 2,840 acres of the Flying A Ranch. The land is about 50 miles northwest of Casper. The easement cost $960,000.

Landowners Bob and Pat Britain had previously allowed some public access for hunting through the state’s Hunter Management Program. Now that access has become permanent every year from September through December.

The easement was among the first wildlife projects funded by the board, established by the Legislature in 2006. The Associated Press
