The Weld County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in thefts of copper wire captured on video.

Jared Charles Klausner, 27, of Brighton turned himself in Friday night, the sheriff’s office said today in a news release.

The theft occurred Dec. 17 between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. near Keenesburg.

The victim had been robbed in the past and installed a motion-sensor security camera, the Sheriff’s Office said.

It showed two men driving up twice and taking 1,100 feet of wire valued at more than $7,000.

After the Sheriff’s Office released video of the thefts to the media, Klausner turned himself in and was jailed on felony theft charges.

Investigators say they have identified the second man and are preparing a warrant for his arrest.
