A Wyoming woman is spreading a story about lost luggage that has a happy ending.
On Christmas Eve, Marjane Ambler of Atlantic City, Wyo., flew to Denver from Las Vegas to visit her 88-year-old father. From Denver International Airport, she took the RTD skyRide bus to the 30th & Downing Light Rail Station. During the transfer, she picked up a small black rolling suitcase.
“I was excited to have arrived. Unfortunately, in my excitement, I picked up the wrong suitcase,” Ambler said. “I was horrified.”
With sentimental Christmas gifts inside her missing suitcase and gifts belonging to another family in the suitcase at her feet, she notified the conductor, who called his supervisor.
“The supervisor was the most helpful,” Ambler said. “He stopped the bus at its next stop and caught up with my train” to exchange the suitcases.
Ambler said she offered the man a tip.
“He suggested I give a gift to the homeless instead,” she said. She donated to the Body of Christ Ministries homeless meal program.
Ambler said she usually takes a taxi or shuttle from the airport but was pleased with her experience with public transportation.
“All the RTD people involved in my little drama were so kind and understanding and determined to solve the problem,” she said. “It filled us all with the real Christmas spirit.”
