HONOLULU—Mike Trimboli scored 24 points to lead Vermont to an 84-59 win over Colorado in Tuesday’s third-place game of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.
Trimboli made eight of his nine field goal attempts, including a perfect four of four on 3-pointers and four of five free throws. He also grabbed four rebounds and had five assists.
Vermont got 16 points and six rebounds from Marqus Blakely and 12 points and six boards from Colin McIntosh.
The Catamounts led by many as 28 points late in the game and shot 58 percent from the field.
Cory Higgins led the Buffaloes with 18 points and five rebounds. He hit all four of his free throws to extend his streak of consecutive made free throws to 36.
Vermont (8-4) committed just six turnovers and outscored Colorado (7-5) 42-26 in the second half during the first-ever meeting between the schools.
