VAIL, Colo.—Authorities say a Missouri man faces a careless driving charge after he rear-ended a Colorado state trooper’s vehicle on Vail Pass.
Sgt. Rich Armstrong of the Colorado State Patrol says 36-year-old Michael Tipton of Columbia, Mo., lost control of his vehicle shortly after 9 a.m. Monday and crashed into Trooper Michelle Shannon’s patrol car.
Armstrong says Shannon was at the scene of an earlier accident when she was hit.
He says Shannon was taken for medical care, but he wasn’t sure of her condition or when she would return to work.
Tipton was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury.
