ASPEN, Colo.—The man who placed homemade gasoline bombs around Aspen on New Year’s Eve and then took his own life will be cremated and have his ashes scattered on mountains near the town that he loved.
Bill Blanning of Denver, the younger brother of Aspen bomb-scare culprit James Blanning, says there will be no public memorial for his brother.
James Blanning took his own life early New Year’s Day after leaving four gift-wrapped bombs around his hometown of Aspen. The bombs came with notes critical of Aspen.
Bill Blanning says his brother loved the mountains, but not the exclusive character the town had developed.
