Getting your player ready...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—Steve Spagnuolo (spag-NOH’-loh) jogged out of the tunnel leading from Giants Stadium to the team’s practice bubble today, waved at reporters waiting outside and then went to work.

It looked like any other day for the defensive coordinator of the Super Bowl champions, except these are hectic times for the 49-year-old.

He had meetings about vacant head coaching jobs with the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions yesterday. He plans to sit down with both the Jets and officials from the Denver Broncos tomorrow.

Spagnuolo has not formally talked to the media about the job search, although he has exchanged pleasantries and jokes with reporters.

Bob LaMonte, his agent, has not returned telephone calls or e-mails.

Even coach Tom Coughlin sidestepped discussion of Spagnuolo’s future, although he admitted he won’t be caught off guard if his second-year coordinator gets a top job.
