The No. 11-ranked Air Force hockey team ended a four-game East Coast road trip Sunday by losing to Yale 3-2 in a nonconference game in New Haven, Conn.

Jacques Lamoureux scored midway through the first period to give the Falcons (15-4-1) an early lead. Yale’s Brian O’Neill scored a goal late in the second period, and Sean Backman’s goal put the Bulldogs (9-4) ahead early in the third period.

Lamoureux scored again for the Falcons, collecting his 17th goal of the season with a power-play tally midway through the third period.

But less than four minutes later, Yale winger Denny Kearney scored the game-winner on a centering pass in front of the net.

“We are in an ugly cycle right now,” Air Force coach Frank Serratore said. “We are waiting for things to happen instead of making things happen.”

Air Force finished 2-1-1 on the trip, beating Connecticut and Quinnipiac and tying UConn.

CHL’s Rage loses in overtime.

Derek LeBlanc’s goal at 1:58 of overtime gave the Rapid City Rush a 5-4 victory over the Rocky Mountain Rage in a Central Hockey League game at the Broomfield Event Center.

It was the third overtime game in six meetings this season between the Rage (15-14-3) and Rush (11-13-7).

Rocky Mountain’s Tyler Butler scored with 32 seconds remaining in the third period after goalie Scott Reid was pulled for a man-advantage. The Rage’s Scott Wray played in his 600th professional game.

Vandiver sidelined for season.

Wyoming has decided to redshirt junior guard Aubrey Vandiver because of illness. Vandiver has been battling mononucleosis for much of the basketball season. Cowgirls coach Joe Legerski said Vandiver had been counted on to provide leadership on a team with just two seniors.
