The annual Lake John/Cowdrey ice-fishing contest will be Saturday and Sunday at the two popular North Park impoundments. The tournament runs from 6 a.m. Saturday to noon Sunday, with Lake John Resort as event headquarters. Entry fee is $30 for adults, $5 for youth under age 16. Meyer succumbs.
Gregg Meyer, a Denver native widely known for his fishing tournament success and his seminars at local outdoor shows, died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Wilsonville, Neb. Meyer, 62, had retired to the Nebraska town in 2000 after a decorated career as a Denver police detective. A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday at his home.
