COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a house fire that left a Colorado Springs woman dead.

A neighbor called 911 to report the blaze about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters found the main level of the house involved in flames when they arrived a few minutes later.

Fire crews discovered a woman unconscious near the front door of the home while fighting the blaze and performed CPR. She was rushed to Memorial Hospital where she died shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesman Lt. Jeff Sievers says the woman suffered smoke inhalation and burns. An autopsy is planned.

The name of the woman has not been released.

Fire officials say the blaze was the eighth significant residential fire in the city since Dec. 24.
