FORT COLLINS — Larimer County Republicans have chosen state Rep. Kevin Lundberg to fill a vacant seat in the state Senate.
Steve Johnson stepped down from the seat last week to become a county commissioner.
A vacancy committee made up of GOP precinct chairs and other county leaders voted 88-42 for Lundberg over Mike Lynch, a 39-year-old businessman from Loveland.
Lundberg, who is 56, lives near Berthoud and owns a media and video production company.
Both men said they were conservatives who support limited government and traditional social values. Lynch said he also wanted to reach out to younger voters and business people as well as independents.
Party officials will now have to name a replacement to fill out Lundberg’s term in the House.
